Sokuzan reads from Dogen’s essay “Turning the Dharma Wheel”: “When one person opens up reality and returns to the source, space in the ten directions also opens up reality and returns to the source.” Sokuzan teaches that opening up reality and returning to the source means finding a way to step outside temporarily into the space of being able to receive what is coming at you in the practice of meditation.

  1. This was a great teaching Sokuzan. I will listen again as I am still tired and have a headache from driving many hours the other day and again today – so not switched on fully. I remember you saying the other day truth was over-rated or something similar to that. Perhaps too thinking is over-rated. Something I do too much of. But, I have 2017 in my sights but keeping in the present moment of course. I’ve ordered my cushions ! Yes ! Thank you for being there/here. A blessing to be sure. The questions from your Sangha are also valuable and helpful to us over the oceans and landmasses. Kind regards and much love to you and your folks there.
