Peace Poles Carving

First Session Results are IN!

A Peace Pole is a long cedar pole with blessings carved on each of the four sides, usually in the languages spoken in the area (Tibetan language will also be on one side). It can then be painted, stained or left in a natural finish. Peace Poles are common in many countries and are meant to be monuments of peace to whoever happens to see one. This project will include teaching people how to hand-carve the prayers or blessings on each side as well as selling the Peace Poles to the public. This project is still in its infancy. Come and learn how to carve, watch others learn, or help with staining, gilding or marketing these monuments on the Internet for placing in gardens, parks, or along trails. This project will be managed by Sokuzan Bob Brown. Please contact Bob if you would like to help with this project.

The Library is Open!

The center now has its own library. It is located on the table in the back of the hall. It is still quite small, so if you have any books, magazines, video or audio recordings that you’d like to donate, please do. The library operates on the honor system and there are sign-out sheets on the table. Please take what you want, but make sure to sign the items out.
